Default Fair Banks Morse Z Trying to find year of production.

Hi One and All

My museum has been gifted with a Fair Bank Morse Z engine 2HP.
I have the SN 9-26471 but I cant seem to find the number or anything close off the lists for the year I have been looking at.

I have attached 5 images of the engine. We intend to repair and use the engine for demonstrations. My museum is Orwell Corner Historical Village.

Thank You for your Input!

Bruce

Bruce,

Below are a couple of scans from C. H. Wendel's "Fairbanks Morse 100 Years of Engine Technology" giving a brief history of this model Fairbanks Morse engine.

As far as I know Fairbanks Morse never hyphenated serial numbers so your engine's number would be 926471 which is consistent with 1948.

Regards,
Larry
