I am driving a 1982 GMC S15, 2.8 V6 that had a journal welded up, and I have a 1926 Witte that had the rod journal welded up and turned down. So far no problems.

Here is a company that specializes in welding engine crankshafts. Dick's Engine and Machine located in Ellenwood, KS. Sorry I can't remember there phone number.
