I enjoy taking pictures and I take a lot of them. I've thought about the show today and realized I didn't take any pictures of the green Allis Chalmers tractors. What I really need to do someday is have someone make me a list of things to photograph. Often I don't recognize something as being significant or rare and only take pictures of the shiny stuff. Documenting things is what I enjoy.

Ooh! Ooh! I was there Saturday! I saw it, all of it, all of the things! Woot! It was so incredibly cool! And the big BIG engine that wasn't completely restored yet, spent most of its time over by the dynomometer pony-brake thing...YOW! Crowd favorite! And they were feeding the boiler coal, real coal, I've never seen raw coal like that before! Never seen the inside of a working boiler before--what a furnace! The sounds and the smells, the heat coming off those engines, the sights!

Sorry, I'm just a little bit excited about my first live steam event.

I'd like to give a shout-out to everybody who took time to talk to me and answer questions, everybody who brought out their engines to bring some real, authentic wonderment to the world. And especially a big shout-out to Travis (you mentioned you're here on SmokStak sometimes) for taking SO MUCH time with me and making me feel welcome even though I'm really new to the hobby and don't know much yet. Thank you!!!

Hey Whammy, It was a VERY NICE show had a very good time, from Thurs to Sat then a 4-5 hr cruise back home with my Associateds in tow. If you like steamers and tractors, etc., Montgomery City Mo, Mt Pleasant Ia, Booneville Mo, and Elsberry Mo are some shows you NEED to check out. Mt Pleasant Ia is real neat and worth the money!!

Your kick-start collection was something else and that dragon was really neat, did you make it yourself?

Yes, I did. It started life as a big old TV dish. Took a little while, but it's got a lot of comments! By the way, you bought some engines from me at last years swap meet there in Lathrop.

Yeah I remember. I remember you telling me then about your trailer/collection, I think this is the first time I remember seeing it, very nice.

I think next year Im going to wear a big sign with my Smokstak name on it, it would be nice to meet some more of the people here in person.

I would be up for that. So you were right next to the person with the small crawler walk behind, you had all the hit & miss engines set up.

I saw that smoke-breathing dragon and made a short video of it! How cool! I'll have to have my husband show me how to upload the video to YouTube, if that'd be OK with you.
