Default Where to find square tool to make a boring bar?

I’d like to make a small boring bar to use on the lathe. 1/8” square by 2-3” long. Either high speed steel or better yet carbide. Any suggestions where to find?

If you're not in a hurry go on ebay and look for metric sizes. 5x5, 6x6, 8x8 etc. They can come in lengths to 8 inches. Cheap and you can cut the length to suit.

*Note that some aren't as hi speed as we'd like to think.

I've used a good brand Allen wrench for that with good success.

I've used these guys when needing small carbide tooling. They make good stuff and I think they make boring bars down to .070 or so http://www.thinbit.com/

Micro 100 and Harvey Tool are a couple more suppliers of small carbide boring bars. I've also made them from old end mills both HSS and carbide.
