Default 49th Annual Rally coming Up

Show starts Sept 10th for the public. Many people volunteering to get the grounds ready and neatly mowed. Hay ready to bale from our parking fields. Campers and displays can come any time from Labor Day on. We have some new roads on the grounds and some more parking spots near the clubhouse that we need for our Jan, Feb, Mar, Pancake Breakfasts. We have a new permanent building to house the Black Smiths. The Maple Producers Building is completely finished with a concrete floor. We have a new first aid station that used to be a trailer used by the Maple Producers. It is newly pannelled and air conditioned, to take care of heat induced problems. Our Ice Cream Stand has been enlarged, so that all storage freezers are under one roof. I plan to use the Ice Cream Stand, but don't plan to need the First Aid Station.

I have had this Rally on the Smokestak Schedule for 11 months. If you are planning to attend go to the schedule and look us up in Sept and click that you are attending. It encourages others if we have a lot of names attending.

Here's a question I always wondered about but never remember to ask while at the show, what do you guys do with the lumber you make after its all cut and stacked?

Saw mill runs all day, every day during our Rally. We purchased $1200 worth of cedar logs this spring. All the buildings the club has built were done with lumber we sawed except for building roof trusses. They have to be engineered trusses to satisfy our towns building inspector. All siding, purlins etc are made on our saw mill. We used to saw planks for our bleachers, but have decided to use pressure treated to get more longevity out of them. I am surprised all the pictures loaded. If they were used on the stak before they won't load. Please click on the show schedule if you are coming to our show.

We need lots of help. Wife and I are going out in the morning, Sat the 5th. lots of things to do before Thursday, mostly involved with the gates and kids play area.
Here are a few more of Bob Melville's pictures. I don't know if we don't have many small engine displays, or if Bob Melville just doesn't like to take pictures of them. Will be leaving the computer for several days.

For those of you into small engines and garden tractors there's quite a few of them as well, many are original condition though and not repainted. It would be nice to see some more restored 50's and 60's garden tractors show up someday, I was going to bring a big display of Bolens but had change of plans this year and am going to be showing/helping a friend bring down some 1920's tractors

I was dis-hearted reading the last news letter stating that if your display was not big enough that an additional fee was required to show. I haul over 300 miles to exhibit at your show. I do realize that the club is in need of help to run the show, but how much more expense is one expected to endure? I hold a life membership to the club. This year I decided to go to a different show. BTW I usually bring 1 Full size antique farm tractor & 4-6 (as many as I can fit on the trailer) Hit & Miss Engines.

Three or four small engines would certainly be an adaquate display. Some people try to get out of paying for a flea market spot, but really want to sell their engines. We had the best Friday gate ever, because the weather was predicted to be nasty the rest of the week, and it was. We didn't do any pulls Sat or Sun.

Those are 1928 Oil Pulls belonging to the Ed Winters Collection. They arrived Friday about 6 PM. I was on the vendors gate and radioed that they were coming in and needed a fair amount of space. They were all running when I went by them. I took several pictures Monday evening of the fairly empty spaces and took some Friday before the rain came of the filled spaces. Hope to show some tomorrow.

I was the one in the red Oil pull shirt helping unloading them that day
We planned on working them and putting the big one on the saw mill but the weather ruined all our fun
I believe this is the first time these have been to this show in about 15+ years

Here are pictures of our parking area before and after crowds. The earth moving equipment was moved across the street to make way for Alexander Equipment's New product display. They are one of several dealers who loan us equipment to put on the show. The last picture should be looked at first as it is before the Rally started.

Was delighted to see your 4 Oil Pulls show up Friday night. Too bad the weather did not cooperate - would loved to have seen one on the sawmill or the Baker fan!

The best show that I exhibit at is over 300 miles away, It has no charge for exhibitors. The exhibitors can not sell from there display but they provide a place and a volunteer will sell any engine related stuff you want to bring along. They also have a free breakfast for exhibitors and a special parking lot next to the entrance. I go every year.
