Default Kids Play Area, Alexander Steam Show

This is an area that I take care of. The red and white stripes are on the 30 inch smoke stack that connected our coal boiler to the brick chimney. When it was painted green and sat on the lawn at the greenhouse it was played in and on regularly. I don't know if the fancy paint keeps the kids away from it. We stopped burning coal in 1962 and got a smaller gas boiler.
Pictures are by Bob Melville. The sand pile is by far the most used thing for the work involved. A couple shots of the water pumping race. We pride ourselves in entertaining the kids without any standard playground equipment.

The water pumping race is cool. If I can find another pump I may set one of those up for our family reunions.

I believe the two brand new pumps and the gutter were donated to the club. I think our second VP, Jim Roll either put the gutters together or talked someone else into doing it

I call this the lifter. It takes a couple of hours to rig it each year. The frame stays in place. I have 4 combinations of ropes and pullys. a chain fall, and a small hand powered hoist. the weights are inside a fence and we have never had any trouble with the solid concrete block landing on anyone. Pictures again by Bob Melville. This years Rally is Sep 8 - 11, 2016. Our 50th.

Here are some of Bob Melville's pictures of our Rope Maker. The big problem with the Rope Maker is that you need someone watching over it, or you will have a big mess of twine.
