Default Source for copper or brass end caps

I have a piece of 3 1/16 OD copper pipe that I want to convert to a gas tank. Where would I look for end caps to fit this pipe? I've tried Home Depot, they look at you like you're crazy.

Leonard,
Look in the yellow pages for the nearest plumbing supply company, if it's a standard size made in the USA they should have it and they won't look at you like you're crazy..

I just ordered brass tubing from"onlinemetals.com". They appear to have a big inventory of goodies. Could be worth a look.

Why not cut out two round flat plates from a copper sheet and then silver solder them on the ends of your pipe. I have fabricated a gas tank from an old fire extinguisher using this method. Make sure that there is vent hole in fabricated tank before silver soldering the final end piece.

Use Phos-Copper to weld copper with an act/oxy torch.
