Question Time to Buy Lathe Chuck Jaws

Here are some pictures of the chuck and jaws. What should I ask for, and who would have them? Looking for new, not used.

What size lathe? is it a miniature lathe if so give these guys a try. the prices arent too bad and they ship out the next day. I have ordered my cutting bits and what not's from them and usually get them three to four days later

Rex,

From what little I can tell from the photos, it looks like the chuck and jaws are in fairly similar condition. I'm not sure there is much to be gained by replacing the jaws. And, if you do replace the jaws, you'll still have to grind 'em in to work properly. It was me, I'd be looking for another chuck. With the economy the way it is, all sorts of stuff is coming on the market, often at very agreeable prices. Plus, buying another chuck, one in better shape, would still leave you the old chuck for rough work. Check craigslist for used chucks or lathes - sometimes a seller may have a lathe with a surplus of tooling that could be bought separately. In the past few months, I have seen several good buys on lathe chucks on our local cl, and the same may be true in your area.

Good luck

Steve
