Default Petter AA1 Engine With Dyno

Ive recently stumbled across a like new petter aa1 engine with a engine dyno.. story is they were bought new in the 70s for a high school shop class to test different fuels on to see the power differences.. used a few times and parked. Owner has not been able to get it started.. pull start only.. and we can not come up with a value.

Curious when this one was made.. also comes with a engine dyno.. will add more pics later

Great find and thanks for posting, I've never seen a dyno setup like this for high schools before, are you hoping to buy it and get it going? this unit would make for a great thread, to test the power given by standard diesel fuel compared to - WVO, residual oil, bio diesel, etc...

Hi
Your engine no 96545 was built in early 1976. With the rope start on these engine you must have the correct oil which is 10W. To start: prime priming plunger with oil not diesel rotate engine backwards on compression and rock flywheel to get injector working.
Open throttle slightly ( unless it is fixed speed) and trip excess fuel lever this found to the top right of the fuel pump. Wrap rope around pulley (1-3/4 to 2 turns) then pull sharply engine should fire. If you need a handbook I can supply one the colour by the way is correct for the period Petters called it "Mouse Grey" shade in Shantung Gold a GM colour. Best of luck Jim Perkins

Greetings, All.

Recently, as of two days, Iíve acquired a Petter AA1 generator that I would like to restore to original glory. If anyone has any documentation (users manuals, etc., and preferably in digital format), and/or advice as per, Iím open to and grateful for any suggestions or help offered.

The model number is a eleven hundred-ish machines Ďnewerí than the AA1 model listed on this thread.
Type AA1; No: 97664 ; BS 3 bhp; 3000 rev/min.

She was part of the original equipment supplied with a motor sailer boat given 'berth' in 1980.

Iíll not bother uploading a photo for the moment as this is my first posting, and itís a bit too complicated for my brain cells.

Thanking yous in advance,

MoJ

Hi Your AA1 was built c December 1975 looks like it was coupled to an early Tecquiment dyno. You need 10W or 10W-30 oil for starting these make sure rope is put on after turning engine backwards to compression.
