Default Fairbanks Morse ZC oil pumpjack

Found this in a field, f/m 6-7 hp. missing radiator and cracked head, other than that seems to be in good condition, Didnt realize the weight of this thing till we started to slide it onto the trailer, Wife just shook head and said,Yep sure looks "pretty".

That's a 118 (in a Bell block, might even be a Bell K7?) and the unit looks like a CMI.

Cool find!

Yeah, she's not light. Just the ENGINE is svelte, but looking at the counterweight plates on that jackbeam makes me satisfied that your trailer got a workout...

Reed Engine can help you get the right stuff to wake it up again!

Whoever was going to braze the crack in the head can take care of that too. Just use a flat file to "resurface". You'll be good to go.

Noticed on a picture from the net that there was a fork lever on the clutch assy. Can anyone give me some info on this, Is it standard on this engine or did they vary the kinds on it, Right now its just free to spin.

Hand lever clutch, they allow tighter clutch adjustments, possibly safer to use. The hand wheel will bolt right on where that bronze collar is now, hand wheels are far more popular.

Just looked better at your pictures, I'd say yours had a ball bearing hand wheel on it maybe? and it's gone. Does the sliding sleeve have a snap ring groove in it?

I do have the wheel, with a bearing in it that will fit over the end and it does have a grove in it that, unsure of how that wheel can press inward to lock the clutch and drive the jack. Guess that's to come after it runs, LOL

Beside the governor rod there is another short rod that has a spring on it, What is that for?

Used to move the governor spring in or out while the engine is running.

Were you able to get the well also? Nice find! Shouldn't be too much trouble fixing that head. It is a common problem on FM engines.

I looked at my book and anything that I have found online, at this rod, Does it hook to anything, I have the bracket that it slides through but the end that is near the gov assy that comes from the engine is just a blunt end, ?
with the butterfly in any position it will not appear to be able to hold or move Seems that it is going to be about 1 inch too long/

I told you what it was in about two posts ago. The second part of your last question I do not understand. Are you talking about the gov pull rod? If its too long maybe the arm it attaches too at the gov end is not attached in its correct position. ?

I need a photo to see what your talking about.

That's exactly how it is supposed to look (other than the rust etc).

It's purpose is to move the governor spring in and out on it's toothed lever. You hold the knurled end with your fingers and manipulate it to get the end of the rod (it's cupped) over the end of the spring. Then you can move the spring right (faster) or left (slower). You can do this while the engine is running, the little rod (whatever it's name is?) is to keep the flywheel from rubbing your hand.
