Default Maytag 82 and maytag upright

I have a number of maytag 72's and 92's, but I'm looking at getting a maytag 82 or an upright, is there anything to look out for, common problems, i also want to get one that I can run not just display.

The main thing on these engines is the ware on the main bearing and connecting. If the crankshaft has lots of slop that is an expensive repair. also the connecting rod. Another thing is chipped and broken fins. Also the mounting ears are usually broken off. The 82s are in the $400.00 range the uprights are in the 5-650 area. If better then average condition then probably more. another thing is the flywheel on the up right. the hubs are sometimes chipped or broken where the pin goes in. Another thing that they be complete. A carb can cost as much as the entire engine. Good luck Arlie
