The S2's were most commonly used on Indian motorcycles, 1922-27. They were also used on Excelsiors as well, and there was a vertical twin stationary engine that also used the S2. The problem is they were all for different applications, Indian 42°, Excelsior 45°, the stationary engine 180°, CW, CCW, etc. If it's still got the brass plates on the sides with the four digit application number, you may be able to tell what it suits from that. I have got a listing I can look up, if it helps. The application number will look something like in this photo.

Craig the numbers are s2---1664 . I don't know if it is cw or ccw. It turns both ways. Ulgydog56 as soon as I can slow a grandchild down may they can teach me how to post pictures. Thanks to both of you for the info.

I found the references I was looking for online. It says a 1664 is for a Le Roi, CW 180° twin with a fixed spark (no advance?) and possibly has an impulse drive? I'm not familiar with these engines, someone may be able to tell you more?
