Default Homemade Push Rods

Will mild steel rod from the hardware store do to make push rods for a IHC LA?
Thanks,

I bought a set from Hit and Miss Enterprises for about $15.00. Is it worth while trying to make them?

Thumbs up Re: Homemade Push Rods

Soft is not all bad....I have a fairly soft stainless homemade push rod on a large engine that has to stay covered up outside all year.....went to start it after it had been sitting a while and did not realize that the exhaust valve was stuck....that stainless rod flexed and saved me from having to replace a rocker arm.

3 feet of rod is less than $10 at the hardware. I'm retired, low money, lots of time. If I'm not doing this I'll be scouring fence rows trying to buy me another job.
Best,
Mike

I used mild steel rods in my LB. No problems so far.
