OK...OK... I went out in the rain (expecting snow later on) and took a couple of photos. The first is the 11" makeshift extension that I removed. The markings on it are where it was bolted to the stabilizer and the other end where it was fastened to the truck cross member. The second is the end that mounted to the bolster. You can see where it was “heated” and precision bent for proper alignment . The third is the end that mounts to the truck cross member. You can see where it was also “heated” and precision bent for proper alignment. Both ends were a bit twisted and bent so I had to do both . Things get hot and from time to time, with trials and errors abounding, here in NJ, while having fun on the way through.

Busy doing other "stuff" in the garage today, but managed to get out in the cold and jack up the front end of the trucks. I pulled the wheels, wire brushed the dry, rusty axel and wheel hubs before greasing them up . While I was greasy , I did the bolster plate, pins, etc.. Things sure work smother and easier with a bit of the old, red axel/bearing grease I picked up awhile back (45#'s still left in the original 20 gallon drum ). I pulled the other wheels, and there was still grease in them so I left well enough alone and went back inside where it was warmer.

Today I went to the old battery box shelf in the barn and found me a nice IHC battery/tool box to use on the Titan . Only problem is, I need to fill the space between the rails with a piece of wood 4 ½” W x 6 ½” H x 20" L with tapered edges, and with a hole completely through it for the ¾” frame bolt. I need this so that I can mount the box support brackets and the battery/tool box. I looked around in the wood pile , but I don’t have what I need. I guess most folks don’t have that handy either… . I see another custom wood working project coming sooner than I think..

Sooner came sooner than expected, as I found Later on, 3 pieces of 2” x 8” that put together will give me the 4 1/2” thickness I need without cutting, and some other wood I can use for the seat, and seat supports(another custom wood project to be addressed sometime). I set up the radial saw and trimmed the 3 pieces to the 20” length I need to fit between the truck rails, and then ripped them to 6 ½” high. Since I don’t have a 2 foot ¾” wood bit to drill the hole where it needs to be (probably would be off center anyway ) I needed another way. Easy to do I say, and after some careful measurements I cut out a channel ½” deep in the front board and the middle board where the bolt would go through by making a few passes on the saw and then cleaning up the groove with the trusty, sharp 1” wood chisel. I came up with a nice 1“square hole just in case I was off a bit (me, off a bit-sometimes ). I then screwed the three boards together. I made a cardboard template of the frame rails and transferred that to the 4 ½" x 6 ½" x 20 "piece of wood I now have. A couple of passes with the cutoff saw on each corner and a bit of chisel work I got the iron channel tapers right. A trial fit showed it was good, but I forgot about the nut under the screen cooler platform that holds it in place . A few quick passes with the cutoff saw made me a nice slot for it. I then drove it in place and believe it or not, the frame bolt went right through without a problem . Next I need to put the brackets in place and mount the battery box, but that’s for another day

Good work and quick too. If you notice, there is only a 15 minute span between posts . Wish I could work that fast

Bill it would be my guess one of the grand kids got up from the computor and Paul has to grab it when he can. He must have been backed up on his post.

After it quit raining the other day , I put the battery/tool box support brackets in place and put the battery/tool box on. I even put some tools for the engine in it . What's up with the last picture , when it gets warmer out I'll try "what's up" when done .
