No, I'd love to go but no money and no time. I would like to go to the August show and take my dad. I've never been there. May need to get some pointers from you on camping, etc.

Got in from Buffalo, NY this Morning about 1:00am and Daybreak could'nt come soon enough. Got the Head off the Bessemer and measured the bore, it is 9 5/8 inch exactly, so I'm guessing this would be the 20hp Correct?
Thanks again
Jim

Looks like your ready to pull the piston and the check rings. Is it stuck? One lungers are a little harder to get the piston out , you have to unthread the piston and rod out of the cross head.If the piston is stuck sometime we have to saw the rod into in order to get piston out, then have a new rod made. By the way PB Blaster is on sale at tractor supply good luck

Hi Skidmore,

Yea She's Stuck, Piston is almost all the way back so I'm Hoping there is'nt much behind the Piston, Done used 1 can of P.B Blaster and tractor Supply is just down the Street from the Motel here in Hamburg, NY (Buffalo). I Think the worst part is the cylinder oiler is gone and water has traveled down on the piston and took some dirt with it, I may have Met My match but I'm gonna do My best to Bring Her back so Keep Me in Mind if You Run across some 70 inch Flywheels for 20hp.

50% tranny fluid and 50% acetone. can't get any better. i still can't figure out the cylinder bolts to bed plate on a 20 h.p. if your carefull, you can put a block of wood against the slide and use a porta power or bottle jack to push the piston forward, but don't use much pressure. use a little pressure and then a 2 lb. hammer with block of wood on the slide. just be gentle. if it doesn't move, put more lube in cylinder and wait another day or so. you can use a 4" x 4" on the piston head, but use a small hammer with light strokes. the vibration will help, but don't knock a hole in the top of the piston.

I would remove the rod packing flang and the cross head bars, also the main connecting rod. That way your only friction is the piston and rings in the cylinder. All those parts are stuck or stiff and it would take alot of pressure to move everything. Before long you will have every part of this engine apart. Just my two cents. I'm not a pro - still learning myself. Hope this helps, skidmore

Looks like your are moving right along. Is the cylinder wall pitted very deep? I made a hone for the 10'' bore , I'll post a picture of it later. We always steam clean the water jackets out ,lots of mineral deposits ,rust ,mice nest and nuts. Tap and die every thread, remove rings and wire brush all rust and carbon off piston, polish piston rod so you get a good seal with the packing. Hope your babbit is good on the cross head thats a real pain to pour. Well keep up the good work

Thanks Skidmore,
Hope to Tinker with it a little this Weekend, Gotta Weld up a Farm gate for a Friend or I'd be on it now. I'm really Excited to have the Piston out, and what I See inside does'nt bother Me a bit. I have a pressure washer with 11hp Honda, Hopefully with a Little Simplegreen it will Clean up Good so I can Address the Cylinder.Do You by any chance Know the Landowner with the Flywheels Secured to the Ground by a Tree in case of Hi Winds?
