I bet the nuts aren't cheap! Hope you can get the number you need. On restoring my engine club's OPSC, we found the lock nut for the piston rod broken,. Most people we contacted would not sell just one - they wanted us to buy a box full! Looks like you fave a few nice projects!

One step closer. I got both Studs done yesterday. I'm glad I only had to do two of them. The new studs where made with 4140 heat treat. The Nuts did not cost much (14.70 each) The place I get all my Fasteners is great, I can buy one or 100 of what ever, and even what I call the Full nut Or old style.
Now on to making new Keys, One is missing and the other is just a little wore out. .................DH

Yes, any updates? It would have been 4th of July weekend 1968 when we went to W.VA to get our Klein and made the stops at John's and Trail Run and saw all the engines. I have been waiting a long time to see this run.

This won't help you Buck eye man but for others with a worn or undersize piston get a quote on flamespray with aluminum bronze. It is porous and holds oil and will wear the cylinder walls less. Price might be much better than sleeving the piston. Ths is done in aerospace applications frequently and is a proven process. You do , of course, want an experienced hand at this.

Thanks tdmidget, I know all about flame spraying pistons, But as I understand it you can only build up 1/8 of an inch any more then that and it will come off. That is why I sleeved the piston, and it did not cost me a thing to have it sleeved.

As of right now I'm running water lines from the engine. I'v spent the last month putting in an entire drain system through out the building and with all the engine already in place it has been a B_____ Gas line and exhaust piping still to do, and the price of pipe has really gone up, and My Money tree died.

Also working on the Dayton getting ready for the BIG SHOW, So I don't think all get fare with this project in the next month. .....................DH

Been making lot's of headway over the past 2 months. The large Flywheel bolts are now in. Bolts this size you don't just but in and tighten up. You would never be able to get them tight enough to pull the the hub together. There is about .010 clearance between the wheel and the crank. The bolts where heated to about 550 degree and then put in and tighten as quick as I could with the Air gun, and then left to cool. Once everything was cooled down the Keys where driven in.
All remaining small parts have now been all cleaned and painted and installed.
Monday I got the fuel line measured out and headed to the heard wear store, ( Dame Pipe is getting pricey ). Tuesday all the wiring and switches was done, and the nice little shelf that was made by a friend for the spark Generator and it was installed. and so on and so on. It will be running some time in the next few day. I would like to get a few hour's on it by next weekend. If you would like to come see it run and many more large engine here at my place come and join us next weekend at the Best Little show in Ohio. Admission is bring and engine, all others will be charged 50. bucks

I shot about 4 minutes of video today of this engine running. I will post a link once it finishes uploading to YouTube. It was pretty sweet to experience in person!

Absolutely beautiful!!! As I have said before this has been a long time coming for me. Thank you! It just goes to show that anything is possible. It seems there have been a lot of "bucket list" things happening for me lately.... Again, thanks. Great job!!!
