Default Maytag Model 82 Carburetor Status

Recently, I have been working on a Maytag Model 82 for a friend. The carburetor was in very poor condition and it was sent to Mark Shulaw to be checked and repaired as needed.
Mark returned the carburetor in excellent condition and it was installed on the engine.
In trying to start the engine, the carburetor spewed fuel from all joints. In desperation, I installed o-rings in these areas. This seemed to work as I was able to get the engine to run.
In corresponding with Mark, he explained that flooding will cause the carburetor to spew fuel from all joints and o-rings are Not necessary. At this time I don't know why the flooding occurred.
Mark is a knowledgeable Maytag sponsor on this list and is willing to help when you are having a problem. He truely lives up to his moniker - Maytag Mark. I believe that why this forum is so successful - members helping members.

yes this is true. just goes to show. even if one this is up to snuff. doesnt mean the engine is goin to run like a dream. an engine is like a football team. every member has to be willing and well prepared to win a football game!!! and with maytags if u can do that. than ur a pretty decent mechanic!!!!
