Default Linseed Oil

Has anyone tried Boiled Linseed Oil on your Flatbed Trailers ...That still have 99% of the original paint ..But just dull + faded ..From setting outside... Guess if you spent time to spray Linseed Oil you could spray Paint just the same..??? Linseed Oil is Cheaper ... Can you paint over it later.. Byron
