Default Hit Miss on Phone Commercial

I think I saw a hit and miss on a phone commercial. Did anyone else see it? It was on innovative ideals about calling this guy w/ this contraption.....a do nothing machine. Best comercial Ive ever seen....well except for a swimsuit ad

Yes, I saw it. It was the machine with the flapping wings.

It was a US Cellular commercial. Just barely caught it on TV just now. The machine would make quite the butt buggy.

Don't know who he is, but there's a Stover in there as far as I can tell! Finally got a decent look tonight and it sure looks like a Stover. Does have a brass tag though.

The engine is a 2 HP Stover KA. Take a close look at the re-engineered exhaust lever. I talked to Steve for quite a while about the ornithopter a few years ago at Airventure in Oshkosh. It has many interesting "features", with the water cannon being a crowd favorite. I've got several good close-up pictures of the ornithopter around here somewhere. It's just a matter of looking up the photos that I took at Oshkosh that year.

Steve and his brother Jim are mechanical craftsmen. They built the replica engine for the Wright Flyer replica that was used to attempt to recreate the flight at Kitty Hawk during the 100th Anniversary of Flight festivities at Kitty Hawk. They actually built a few of those engines, which I also got to see at Airventure.

2hp suposedly 'hopped up' to 3hp... 50% increase ???

Gotta wonder, did he jack up the compression, or just Over Rev it and hope it holds together.

Nothing like crash landing with an open hopper full of boiling water between your legs. Probably why the original wing flapper was built with an air cooled engine.

Could be entertaining to watch though From a Distance.

I don't imagine it will attain much altitude on its own unless there is a cliff involved......

That's how they 'launched' most of those jalopies back in the day.... "Those Magnificent Men And Their Flying Machines".

But even a 'low altitude' crash landing would have boiling water splashed all over the pilot with a hopper cooled engine.
