Default 12-25 Townsend Engine Break In

FINALLY got to this stage on the 12-25 Townsend......belting up and loosening up a tight, new, engine.
It took quite a few trys to get my little JD L to bring 'er around continuously but we "got 'er done"...........and it loosened up nicely....
So here's 52 seconds of a 2.3 meg download for you.
Please right click and save the file.

Craig!!!
That is a mighty fine looking steam engine... Why is it turning over that John Deere? And didn't your eyes burn from the smoke?

It's the other way around Gary.........SMOKE? WHAT smoke?
But here it is running.....there's some fine tuning to do yet but we're getting there!
Here's 30 seconds of a 1.35 meg WMV video...

Thanks Brian but it's gonna run a LOT better when we're done...
The sound INSIDE the shop isn't a real good example of the mellow sound they really have..........and running at 500rpms they sound remarkably like a steam engine running at 250rpms.
Oh...this one ain't gonna wheeze and die...unless it runs out of gas!!

Man, that is a good sounding engine! Hmm, sounds kinda like an old steamer on the belt, don't it? No wonder I think it sounds good!

I finally got back in the mood to argue with this thing...............
I got the air valve right, it governs now and I THOUGHT it was ready to go for a paint job but I was wrong..............I HATE when that happens.
You'll see a JD A widefront tractor in the backround.....it served as my "governor test" instrument. I locked the brakes on it and hooked the Townsend to it to "pull" it and check for governor action. (no wisecracks about the Deere either.............. )
In spite of yet MORE fine tuning here's 1 minute of a 2.7 meg WMV video we took today.
Please right click and save it:

Sounds and looks good Craig! What are some of the other tractors we see pieces of in the back ground? And not the JD.

Hey Andrew....
The FIRST one you see is the 45 Mogul, then about halfway through is an 8-16 Avery waiting for an engine overhaul and at the end is the front end of a LATE 20hp IHC friction drive chassis WAITING to become a TRACTOR....

Thanks Craig. I thought that one was an Avery 8-16. It looks like the one I posted a picture of a few weeks ago. But the Avery is next in line to be done. Hey Craig any chance we get to see some Oilpulls at work or playing?
